What Munchie Bot does

Cannabis products come with a lab report, also called a certificate of analysis or COA, that lists the cannabinoids and terpenes measured in that batch. Munchie Bot reads that report and estimates, on a scale of 1 to 10, how likely the product is to make you hungry. It shows which ingredients raised or lowered the score.

It’s an information tool for adults 21 and older. It doesn’t sell, deliver or advertise products, and its scores are estimates, not medical advice.

Scanning a lab report

Munchie Bot downloads the report straight from the lab’s website and reads it on your phone. Scanning the same report again opens your existing result.

How scores work

The score starts from a typical product and adds or subtracts points for what the lab report shows. In plain words:

THC
More THC generally means a higher score. It’s compared with other products of the same type, because flower, vapes, concentrates and edibles come in very different strengths.
THCV and CBD
A meaningful amount of THCV, or a lot of CBD compared with THC, can pull the score down.
Minor cannabinoids
CBG, CBN and delta-8 THC can nudge the score up a little.
Terpenes
The aroma compounds matter too. Relaxing, myrcene-led profiles tend to raise the score, while energizing ones led by terpinolene or pinene tend to lower it. Their effect is larger when the product is rich in terpenes.

Range and confidence

Under each score you’ll see a likely range, such as “Likely 5–8”, and a confidence level. The range gets wider when the report is missing data or when the traits behind the score have less research supporting them. Tap the confidence level to see why.

Why this score

Open any scan and scroll to Why this score to see each trait’s points, biggest first. Tap a trait to read why it matters and how strong the evidence is, from A (studies in people) to D (mostly user reports).

Strain check

If a batch doesn’t look like its strain usually does, you’ll see a “Not your typical …” note. It’s there for your information and never changes the score.

Everyone reacts differently, so treat the score as an estimate.

Sensitivities and ratings

My sensitivities (the sliders button on the home screen or on a result) lets you turn each trait down, or off, if it doesn’t affect you, and up if it affects you more than most people. Changes apply to all your scans right away. Scans you’ve rated keep the score you saw when you rated them.

There’s also an optional Discount older lab reports setting. Terpenes fade after harvest, so when it’s on, reports more than 3 months old count terpenes less, down to 70% after a year.

Ratings: you can rate a product later to record how it compared with the estimate. If you allow notifications, the app can remind you to rate about 75 minutes after a scan. Ratings are stored only on your phone.

Back up and restore your scans

Your scans live on your iPhone. There’s no account, so a backup is the way to keep them if you delete the app or move to a new phone.

Automatic backup

Munchie Bot keeps a file named Munchie Bot Backup.json up to date whenever your scans change. You can find it in the Files app under On My iPhone › Munchie Bot. If the app ever can’t open its database, it restores your scans from this file.

Export a copy

  1. On the home screen, tap the Backup button (the drive icon, top left).
  2. Choose Export scans…
  3. Pick a place to save it, such as iCloud Drive.

Restore or move to a new phone

  1. Install Munchie Bot on the new phone.
  2. Tap Backup, then Import scans…
  3. Pick the file you exported. Scans you already have are skipped, so importing twice is safe.

If Restore automatic backup appears in the Backup menu, it brings scans back from the automatic backup file on this phone.

Before you delete the app: deleting it also deletes the automatic backup, so export a copy first. A full iPhone backup to iCloud or a computer also includes Munchie Bot’s data.

Troubleshooting

The scan didn’t find any results

Some QR codes lead to pages that need a login or only show results after running scripts. Open the link in Safari, download the report’s PDF, then use Open PDF in Munchie Bot. If it still fails, email us the link so we can add support for that lab.

The numbers don’t match the report

Tap the document button on a result to open the original report and compare. A low confidence level means the app wasn’t sure it read the report correctly. Please send us the report link so we can fix the reader.

The camera doesn’t open

Check Settings › Munchie Bot › Camera. On a device without a camera, use Paste link or Open PDF.

The store name is missing or wrong

The store is filled in only if you allow location and a dispensary is within about 250 meters when you scan. Tap Store on a result to type or change it.

I don’t get rating reminders

Check Settings › Notifications › Munchie Bot.

Is my data shared with anyone?

No. There’s no account, no analytics and no Munchie Bot server that receives your data. The app only downloads public files, like lab reports and strain profiles. See the privacy policy.
